LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans (LSUHSC-NO) is seeking a collaborative, analytical and results-oriented leader to serve as the Assistant Director of Payroll. The Assistant Director is an integral member of the Accounting Services team, reporting to the Director of Accounting Services.

The Assistant Director is responsible for the oversight and direction of the universitys payroll function for over 3,000 employees. The incumbent is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and disbursement of payroll for all employees. The Assistant Director functions within an environment of confidentiality and integrity while driving performance and efficiency. The Assistant Director provides leadership and management for the payroll staff and supports continuous improvement and a drive for excellence. The incumbent partners with Human Resources in aligning and implementing a more efficient payroll processing system and ensuring data integrity. The Assistant Director develops operating procedures to ensure a timely and fluid payroll processing operation. The incumbent will maintain a current and adequate knowledge of federal and state payroll tax laws and U.S. tax treaties.

Skill / Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree 
  • At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional-level payroll experience including at least three (3) years in a management capacity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Certification and experience with PeopleSoft Financial and Human Resource applications
